Description

Nikovic-87 'Sea Snake' Anti-Ship Missiles aboard a Yukov O-77C TEL.

Remastered.

Developed in the late-2090s and fielded by the early-2100s, the N-87 'Sea Snake' ASM system was developed as a direct counter to increasing advancements in Escean ship defences. This hypersonic cruise missile is capable of speeds in excess of Mach 8.3, and can travel up to 600 miles. N-87 missiles are capable of mounting conventional 1000kg high explosive warheads, or a dialable nuclear warhead with a yield between 5-15 kilotons. While the missile itself utilises an all electric vespomide powerplant for cruising flight, the initial launch is conducted with a chemical booster that propels it up to Mach 6, before being jettisoned. The missile then accelerates and drops to an altitude of fifteen feet over water. Over land, the onboard computer will maintain an unobstructed altitude of 200 feet. Wings that deploy upon launch allow the missile to ascend as needed over any other obstacles based on a predetermined route.

Sea Snake missiles are transported via Yukov O-77C truck, a variant of the Tactical Combat Truck family manufactured by the Yukov Automotive Works. The missiles themselves are produced by the Nikovic Design Bureau, and supplied in individual, hardened packing containers. Warheads are supplied separately and as required, and are mated in the field by specialist personnel responsible for loading the fully armed missile into the launcher. Two missiles can be carried at a time by each launch vehicle, and frequently operate in a battery of four launchers. Each launcher has its own resupply truck, while a command and control vehicle provides direction, tracking data, and radar coverage for the battery.

"We need more missiles, comrade. More missiles is very good, no?"
